    Granzow A/S's contribution to sustainability

    As a responsible provider with more than 85 years worth of experience we're currently joined by some of the world's leading producers of industrial solutions in order to meet some of the UN's 17 world goals. We have a vision of an industry that to a higher degree depends on sustainable solutions, through which we can ensure a better future for the world and everyone living in it.

    In many cases, when working closely together with a customer, we not only work to find the optimal solution but also aim towards the right solution when it comes to a sustainable and more environmentally friendly solution.
     

    We've identified the products in our portfolio that offers the biggest advantage in regards to environment as well as energy efficiency. Through this process we've chosen a focus on our oil-free compressors and vacuum pumps. They use less energy, which in terms contributes less to CO2 emissions, and they don't use oil, which in terms eliminate toxic waste. This, we feel, is a step in the right direction when it comes to taking active choices towards safeguarding the planet for future generations.

    The UN's 17 world goals: There are 17 world goals - and 169 targets - which all focus on solving many of our planet's biggest challanges by the year 2030. The world goals were agreed upon in 2015 at the UN's yearly gathering

     

     

    UN Global Compact's 10 principles

    UN Global Compact's mission is to mobilize a global movement of organizations across the globe in order to create a better future for our planet. They do this through their 10 principles, which every member of the orginzation pledge to meet.

    The 10 principles originate from: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, The International Labour Organization´s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, The Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

    The following principles are specific to the evironment:

    • Principle #7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
    • Principle #8: Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility
    • Principle #9: Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies

    • Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production

    Achieving economic growth and sustainable development requires that we urgently reduce our ecological footprint by changing the way we produce and consume goods and resources. Agriculture is the biggest user of water worldwide, and irrigation now claims close to 70 percent of all freshwater for human use.

    The efficient management of our shared natural resources, and the way we dispose of toxic waste and pollutants, are important targets to achieve this goal. Encouraging industries, businesses and consumers to recycle and reduce waste is equally important, as is supporting developing countries to move towards more sustainable patterns of consumption by 2030.

    A large share of the world population is still consuming far too little to meet even their basic needs.  Halving the per capita of global food waste at the retailer and consumer levels is also important for creating more efficient production and supply chains. This can help with food security, and shift us towards a more resource efficient economy.

    Our contribution and focus will originate from goal 12.4:
    "By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment".

    • Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

    Climate change affect every country on every continent. It disrupts the national economy and it affects lives, and has a tremendous cost to our society as a whole. Weather patterns are changing at an increasing haste, the water is rising and the weather as a whole is gradually becoming more extreme. Also, green house gases are at an all time high in recorded history. Without action the mean global temperature will likely exceed 3 degrees celcius this century, which will have devastating results. The poorest countries are the ones affected the most.

    Our contribution and focus will originate from goal 13.3:
    "Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning".

    Why not choose a greener solution by opting for one of our olie-free compressors or vacuum pumps. They are more energy efficient, which leads to less CO2, and they don't utilize oil at all. This helps to elimate any oil residue in your production, and disposes you completely of toxic waste

    Responsibility for sustainability

    What benefits can you reap from going oil-free?

    If you are interested in making your production and installations more environmentally friendly, consider purchasing equipment that runs oil-free. Oil-free industrial compressors and vacuum pumps are both more efficient and environmentally friendly. They use less energy than earlier models, places less demand on your plant's application resources with its components and smaller filtration equipment. They also do not emit or produce any harmful chemical waste, which makes them extremely environmentally friendly.
    Further environmental improvements can be achieved with frequency-controlled compressor models than the conventional "on and off" models, and in addition, additional energy-optimized actions can be generated with correctly installed and adapted PLC controllers on your compressor or vacuum pump installation. Implementing heat recovery can be an additional sustainability option, as most of the energy consumed in a compressor can be converted to heat.

    An oil-free compressor and vacuum pump can also improve the quality of your system, because they do not use oil in daily operations, and thus do not generate the harmful emissions that can endanger the health of employees. Employees thus remain happy, healthy and productive when operating an oil-free compressor or vacuum pump in daily operation.

    A potential oil pollution can stop production and destroy the products, which in addition to loss of goodwill, poor economy, loss of market share, etc. can mean that your production has to be in operation longer, and with a much larger number of hours as a result to compensate the difference. This puts additional strain on the environmental resources, as you will have to run equipment, lighting, heating and cooling systems for longer than usual - which consumes more energy and increases your CO2 emissions. An oil-free compressor or vacuum pump can thus eliminate the risk of delays and product contamination.

    An oil-free compressor does not have oil in the compression chamber. This minimizes filtration requirements and pressure drops, which directly translates into energy savings and cost savings. With high quality and pollution-free air, you can be sure that your compressed air system is as streamlined and as efficient as possible.

    Leak detection

    We recommend our customers to have a leak search on their compressor system, in order to be able to locate potential leaks. Leaks, however small they may be, can easily surprise when it comes to the overall calculation of energy consumption. Namely, they can increase one's costs considerably as a result of increased compressed air volume. In the end, it may be the difference between running one or two compressors.

    Leak detection therefore not only increases the profitability of your consumption, by not losing compressed air in your system, but it also reduces service costs, as your system uptime is either reduced, or can go from two compressors to just one in cases where you is very hard hit by leaks.

    Environmentally friendly oil-free compressors and vacuum pumps give you lower maintenance costs and significant energy savings compared to previous generations and conventional oil-lubricated models. As the final nail in the coffin, they also give you increased stability in your operation making it an easy choice to make
